Making of a copper finial in the USA PDF Print E-mail
Sunday, 18 April 2010 00:00

Hello !

For the past two years, I had in mind to make a finial... So, this design of  a "gigantic" finial was in my thoughts and I was keeping it as a secret weapon for a possible masterpiece to be accepted Compagnon Couvreur (Master roofer in the guild Compagnon couvreur du devoir), then I thought that it would be good to make it right now.

I designed and conceived the work in a personal way; beyond the finished piece, I envisaged this work as a means to perfect my skills, which occupied me throughout the winter (between 100 and 150 hours).

Finial Fabrication from A to Z PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 30 November 2009 13:01

Carried out a few years ago in Cologne.

Back then, I was on a skill exchange travel and learn scheme working for this German company and a finial was to be ordered from a tinsmith to fit at the top of this campanile.

I managed to convince my boss to let me making it by promising to do the lot within 3 days.

I managed it in 32 hours over 3 days, including all drawings.
